Mile markers seem to call my name and say, "You're safer now."

The feeling of pouring summer rain on my face is absolutely beautiful, yet I'm still reading the now omnipresent news reports of a shooting at a Knoxville Unitarian Universalist Church, which killed two attenders and left many others injured.  I know a few people who were there at the time of the shooting, and the shooter (who they say had so much ammo that he intended to get in far more shots than he did) did this because the group was "too liberal."

The memorial for Lilli Manis at Berea Friends Meeting is this Sunday, with all SAYFers, and former SAYF attenders present.  I'm not sure I've really even accepted yet that she died.  It'll take awhile.

I'm having a lot of trouble recently trying to reconcile my love for life and the happiness, beauty, and passion existing therein with the reality of all of the horrible things going on in the world.  This is probably a large part of why I started attending meeting again.  It doesn't fix things, but having some community there helps.  I'd forgotten how much I love some of the people there.

I've grown to appreciate dancing a lot.  I think I took it for granted before, but not having that "therapy" and social interaction is a bit detrimental, which I've learned.  Contra dance this past weekend, and it was wonderful.  Will didn't show, despite my attempts, but Annie drove down, which made me rather happy, as she's among the many exceedingly awesome people that I don't get to see often enough.

I'm still in my constant state of wanderlust, but hopefully that'll dull down with more studying and dancing, and maybe be pacified temporarily by being in Lexington for January and the possibilities of LEAF, FOOTMAD, and KLX, along with the trip to Atlanta to see some of the Quakers that I won't be around for awhile (particularly those who will be leaving the country soon).  I've also discovered that Jeff Richey (my adviser, boss, and the professor to whom I'm pretty much a groupie) is leading next summer's Japan trip, which means religion courses will be involved, and I might be able to go.  This also offers the possibility of another chance to see Kimie then, which would be great.
